It's been a while since I check on the latest MEAN.io stuff. When I first started learning the MEAN stack I used it to help me get my bearings, even contributed a little to the project. There's a lot of non-MEAN stuff, though, that was distracting me from what I was trying to learn. It's loaded down with lots of packages. They're all very cool, but distracting nonetheless.
I just checked it out again, and the project has come a long way. They've got an npm package with scaffolding generation and a package system that allows you to publish custom bits of MEAN.io code. It's pretty cool.
